Books & Bling 
After more than two years of helping others publish their books, Janine noticed something, "Writing and printing the book is the easy part." Authors thought were over the hard part. Pulling elements together for a book is real WORK, BUT, what’s even more work, is marketing the book and getting it to sell. Sparking interest and curiosity in people enough to purchase, read and recommend the book is a greater challenge. Of course the book has to be captivating, but people aren’t really ‘readers’ anymore. Sitting and reading requires an attention span and that’s becoming less of a thing. Writers want/need to reach way beyond their own sphere for readers.
Talking ‘book marketing’ to a self-published writer, the idea came to Janine: "How can I bring people together for buying books? Like a book fair." Janine didn't want it to just be books, she wanted people to be able to buy nice things that they like, like cool apparel and accessories. She then decided to add the health conscious elements and be big on self care. Janine collaborated with pop-up shop queen, Rachel Matthews of Pieces by Rae, for the bling segment to do this great thing.
So there Books & Bling was conceptualized. Where literacy is promoted. Styling and creativity are celebrated. Enjoyment is encouraged. Self care is essential. Attendance and participation has been great. Many experience seeing what Janine has put together giving authors a platform to share their stories, wisdom and insight and a plethora of entrepreneurs who are courageous enough to pursue their passion and turn it into business. Typically more than 30 authors and vendors gather under one roof for one occasion selling their books and products at the RollerCade every November and April!!!
