So, You're Ready to Self Publish?!
My goal is to m ake the self publishing process easier for you. I am not a publisher per se. I am a publisher in the sense that I publish my own books. You are a publisher by the same token. I am just here to help you set things up and get you through the self publishing process.
You keep your rights and control over all of your work. You get all of your royalties. You order your own books whenever you want without having to go through a middle person. You monitor your own sales. You will be autonomous and in control of your work. My goal is to empower and support you along the way.
After publishing and helping with the self publishing of more than 20 books since 2020, I have tweaked my process for optimum outcome. Your success is my success. I want you to win as a self published author! The steps outlined below are the beginning of a path to success. Whether you sell 1 book, 100 books or a million, the fact that you followed through to completion is indeed great success.
I want to help you make that happen. Publishing your own book is a big deal. It's a major accomplishment. Writing and publishing a book is a life changing experience. It creates and opens a plethora of avenues of opportunity.

The Investment
Consult Discuss book idea, concept, potential, goals, etc... 15 minutes by phone. NO CHARGE.
Content
Book formatting and layout inside pages: $2.50 per page. Eg. 70 pages = $175.
Cover
Book cover design by Janine with KDP template. This includes front cover design and placement of book summary, author photo and author bio on the back cover. $100.
KDP/Amazon Set-up
This set up includes ISBN number and bar code, e-book set up. This will make your book available on Amazon in the form of paperback and e-book. Hardcover set up also available. More information will be provided during the set-up process that will be done together. Janine will answer additional questions at that time. KDP/Amazon set-up fee is $100.
The Process
Once you have completed the content of your book with all proofreading and editing completed:
- Email content to janine.folks@gmail.com
- The book will then be formatted which includes book layout and set up
- Books are typically 5.5 x 8.5 or 8.5 x 11 Coloring books
- Turn around time for formatting is about 7 days. Could take up to two weeks
- Email a description of your vision for book cover
- Attach any supporting photos
- Provide color scheme preferences or let designer put something together for you
- Provide an author photo (optional)
- Provide an author bio
- Provide a book summary
- Provide any testimonial quotes (optional) for the back cover.
- You will receive a front cover picture of your book cover layout and a PDF file of your book content
- 50% payment is due and can be paid via Cash App at $janinefolks, Zelle 313-772-0642 or Venmo @janinefolks.
- Review your book cover and inside pages carefully and thoroughly.
- Submit any changes that need to be made.
- Review corrections and ensure content and cover are print ready.
- Approve of cover and content.
- Meet with Janine in person or virtual (on Teams) to do KDP set up together.
- You will be walked through the entire process.
- Book will be live on Amazon within 48 hours.
- Final payment is due and can be paid via Cash App at $janinefolks, Zelle 313-772-0642, Venmo @janinefolks or click the above ling to Square.

Your Role
Protect your work by completing the form TX to copyright your work (c). Download the form at this link with the Library of Congress or mail yourself a copy.
- You are responsible for proofreading and editing.
- Be sure to review your work carefully and thoroughly.
- You will receive a PDF file of your formatted book.
- You can pay an editor or proofreader to review and tighten up your book.
- To spare yourself that expense, you can get two of your smartest friends or family members to proofread your work.
- Once you approved your book for submission, any errors discovered after publication are your responsibility.
- Changes and corrections can be made post publication for a nominal fee.
- $2 per change with a $10 minimum.
- If you have an Amazon account, you will use the same account for your KDP account.
- Go to KDP to set up your account with tax informaiton for your 1099 and account infomation for direct deposit of your royalty payments.
- You will manage your own KDP account, order your own books and monitor your sales on KDP reports.
